Vintage 12ct Amethyst and 18ct Yellow Gold Ring
A beautiful vintage 12 carat emerald cut amethyst, set in 18 carat yellow gold.
Oh my! This one is a stunner! I'm going to be honest I don't usually buy amethysts, usually because I don't like how most are set, but I could not go past this one. What a gorgeous classic setting and the amethyst! She is a gorgeous mid purple colour, 12 carats, emerald cut. She has no inclusions that I can see, even under magnification and she is well cut and has excellent clarity. She is claw set, and the claws are nice and strong. The amethyst has no chips or nibbles to her edges, which made me think she hadn't been worn however the hallmarks inside her band show signs of wear, so she has just been taken care of really well.
The name amethyst originates from ancient greek and means "not intoxicated" as they believed the stone would prevent drunkeness. Amethysts are generally thought to reduce stress and anxiety, encourage sleep and relaxation, sharpen intuition and remove negative energy from spaces and bring peace. They are of course the birthstone of people born in February.
I love the geometric style of this ring. Considering her size she is still very comfortable and easy to wear as the setting has been kept as low as possible. This beautiful ring is hallmarked for 18 carat, She comes with an independent replacement valuation of $9,000.
A very special wear everyday ring.
