Victorian Turquoise and Diamond Half Hoop Ring in 18ct Yellow Gold
A stunningly beautiful handmade, antique carved half hoop or bridge ring set in 18ct yellow gold with three turquoise cabochons separated by four old European cut diamonds. With a beautifully carved, intricate gallery and solid yellow gold shank.
The beautifully detailed setting remains crisp. The turquoise is a beautiful Tiffany blue colour, the centre stone has slightly more green than the side stones. All three are in good condition given their age, they are mounted securely in the setting. The four European diamonds are bright and sparkling, they complement the turquoise beautifully and show the high regard that turquoise was held in, in Victorian times.
I believe the ring has had a marked size increase and unfortunately, the maker's mark has been lost, but she is hallmarked for 18 carat gold. The upside is that the band is lovely and thick. The ring is in excellent condition, the turquoise and diamonds are secure, with little to no signs of wear.
Like pearls, coral, opal, emerald, amber and onyx, turquoise is porous, which means it will discolour over time unless treated with care. This is relatively simple and more information can be supplied, along with recommended cleaning products.
She is in very good antique condition especially considering she is approximately 100 years old. The ring is sizable.
