Edwardian Crescent Moon Sapphire and Pearl Necklace
A very special piece, originally an antique Edwardian brooch, she has been converted into an amazing and unique necklace.
Consisting of nine extraordinary natural cornflower blue sapphires and twelve creamy freshwater pearls in an alternating pattern in the form of a crescent moon. It has been meticulously crafted in 14ct yellow gold with platinum tips. The sapphires are a gorgeous cornflower blue colour, they look like ceylon sapphires but are more likely to be Yogo Gulch sapphires from Montana USA.
These brooches were typically gifted as honeymoon brooches, as the crescent moon is the symbol for Diana the Goddess of the Hunt, who among other things represented fertility, children and childbirth.
This gorgeous pendant is in very good condition, it has been checked by my jeweller and some of the pearls have been re glued to make sure they are secure, she is ready to wear.
She has had a new 9ct yellow gold chain added, which I have designed to wear at a 40 cm length to show her off. She looks amazing layered with chains both modern and vintage.
Comes with an independent replacement valuation for $6850.
A very different and unique piece.
