Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold and Seed Pearl Horseshoe and Whip Pendant
A beautiful 15ct yellow gold horseshoe pendant, inlaid with seed pearls and a whip with a trailing lash.
Originally an Australian made Victorian era stickpin, she has been converted into a pendant. Consisting of a bright 15ct yellow gold horseshoe, grain set with creamy seed pearls. Across the horseshoe is a whip with a trailing lash beautifully fashioned in twisted gold. She has a nice new large 9ct yellow gold bale.
So gorgeous, perfect for the horse lover. She is hallmarked for Duggin Shappere and Company which were founded in 1896, they were originally situated in Howey Place, off Little Collins Street, Melbourne eventually settling in Collins Street. They grew into one of the largest and most prolific manufacturing jewellers in Australia, before succumbing to the Great Depression and closing in 1932. They were well known for their seed pearl work as well as their Australiana pieces. What a gorgeous piece of history.
This beautiful pendant is in excellent antique condition and is ready to wear everyday. So unique and rare, this is a very special piece.
