Edwardian Ruby and Diamond Moon and Star Rose Gold Locket
This is a very special antique 9ct rose gold locket, with a diamond crescent moon and a ruby star.
This locket is very unique, I come across this style of locket from time to time, but they are always decorated with paste stones, which are a type of glass, this beauty has an actual natural ruby and beautiful old cut diamonds. The diamonds are in the shape of a crescent moon with a ruby star. The crescent moon in Victorian times symbolized new beginnings, change, the feminine moon goddess, and romantic love. The crescent moon was frequently paired with stars to represent guidance.
The locket is a beautiful rosy gold colour. She is hallmarked for Able and Charnell of Frederick Street Birmingham UK, they operated between 1899 and 1915. She is 9ct gold on the front and back over a metal frame to give her strength. She is in very good antique condition, with only a few tiny dings on the back. Inside she has both her frames but only one glass.
This locket is a very old piece, over 100 years of age and still in such lovely condition. This is a beautiful locket waiting to be loved and cherished by her new caretaker.
