Antique 9ct Rose Gold Wreath Medal
A lovely antique 9ct rose gold watch medal with a wreath design and engraved shield.
The most difficult thing when writing about these watch medals is deciding whether they are rose or yellow gold. I would say that this one is a lovely old rosy gold, but she seems to have a yellow wash over the part between the shield and the wreath. She could be worn with either a rose or yellow gold chain and I have had a new rose gold bale put on her.
She was made by AE Pitt and is stamped for 9ct gold. On the front she is engraved with "Kilkenny Competitions 1930" and she was the prize for the Under 16 Novice Fling, which was won by Lorna Marshall and was donated by Mrs Dodd. I wish they still gave gold medals and not ugly trophies for sports etc. I believe her to be Australian made and won. She has a tiny solder on the top loop, not noticeable when worn. She is in good antique condition.
A beautiful medal that would look stunning either clipped to a watch chain or worn on a finer chain. A lovely wear every day piece.
