1916 Sterling Silver Cheroot Case
A beautiful antique Victorian sterling silver, cheroot case.
A cheroot case is a small decorative container that was used to carry cheroots (type of cigarette) or the cheroot holder or mouthpiece, and this one is a beautiful example. This piece has hand engraving to the back and front with a shield on the front just waiting for a beautiful monogram. The whole case is covered in swirling flourishes and foliage. On the base is a hinged lid and the top has a ring that was originally used to hang it from a watch chain.
Made by the William Vale and Sons of Unett Street Birmingham in 1916 it is in good antique condition. There are a few small dings and some flattening where it was held. The lid fits very sturdily and the hinge is in good condition. It closes very securely. The bale is also in good condition and is very secure. She was actually sold to me as a needle case, so if you are a sewer this could be a very handy pendant.
She would look stunning on a watch chain or a finer chain. This is an amazing collectible piece of history. A real statement piece!
