1903 Victorian Sterling Silver Sovereign Case
A stunning antique sterling silver single sovereign holder, with a beautiful hand chasing to both the front and back.
A sovereign holder was used by a gentleman to carry gold sovereigns. It would have been connected to a watch chain and kept in a waistcoat pocket. This is a lovely example with a shield shape on the front surrounded by hand chased foliage and the whole back of the case is covered in the same.
This is an Edwardian piece, she was assayed as sterling silver in Chester UK in 1903. She was made by EJ Trevitt and Sons of Augusta Street and subsequently Northampton Street, Birmingham UK. She is in very good antique condition, she does have some hollowing where she would of been held to open and close, however this is so subtle as it could of been part of her original design. She has two small dings, near the shield, that are only mentioned for full disclosure, but definitely cannot be seen when worn.
Because of her compact size she is easy to wear. She looks stunning clipped to a watch chain or even worn on a modern silver chain. This is an amazing collectible piece of history. A real statement piece!
