1900 Victorian Rose Gold Trombone Link Albert Watch Chain
Beautiful Antique Victorian trombone link single Albert watch chain in solid 9ct rose gold, with a fob, one dogclip and one bolt ring.
A beautiful chain, these are getting harder and harder to find, especially ones of a wearable length. This one is 450mm long, the perfect length to layer with your other necklaces and gives a bit of detail and difference with its trombone links.
It has one dog clip, and a bolt ring, both are in good condition and work perfectly and are very secure. All links are hallmarked for 9ct gold. Finding the hallmarks on this chain was a bit like a treasure hunt, most of them are quite worn but I believe I have been able to make them out. Every single link is hallmarked for 9ct gold. On one long link of the chain, there is a maker's mark indicating it was made by Henry Allday and Sons of Warstone Lane, Birmingham. The hallmark used indicates the chain was made between 1900 to 1913. On another small link there is an anchor, for Birmingham and an "a" for the year 1900, which is where and when it was assayed to determine it was 9ct gold. The fob has a partial maker's mark which I believe is for Henry Williamson Limited and the dog clip is hallmarked for Fetter Forbes and Co. Quite a collection of hallmarks!
A true investment piece, this necklace is in excellent antique condition. A beautiful, versatile and increasingly rare necklace, at a hard to find length. The perfect wear everyday piece.
