1887 Victorian Sterling Silver Locket
A gorgeous and rare antique locket hallmarked for 1887. Fashioned in sterling silver with gorgeous hand engraving. This is a beautiful example of Victorian silver jewellery.
A very solid locket with gorgeous hand engraved ivy leaves surrounded by a star pattern and then tiny balls to the outside. The ivy leaf, which is often seen in Victorian and Edwardian pieces, symbolises everlasting love, immortality, and fidelity. "I cling to thee".
She is hallmarked for Henry Williamson of Farringdon Road, Birmingham UK and is date stamped for 1887.
The locket is in good antique condition, especially considering that it is 137 years old! The back of the locket has some very light scratches and one dent, but this is not visible when worn. It closes with a satisfying "click". Amazingly she still has both frames and "glasses" ready for photos of her new owner's loved ones.
