1908 Victorian Rose Gold Gate Bracelet with Padlock
Beautiful antique Victorian 9ct rose gold padlock gate bracelet.
A gorgeous rose gold gate bracelet, she has four rows of long polished gate links which are secured on the wrist by a safety chain and heart padlock clasp, complete with full hallmarks. Heart padlocks were often gifted as a symbol of love or given to loved ones before long periods of separation as a reminder of the giver's love..
The padlock is a nice size and closes very securely, it is hallmarked for John Grinsell and Sons of St George's, Birmingham UK. It was assayed as 9 carat gold in 1908 in Birmingham.
The links are hollow as was custom to the construction of these bracelets in the Victorian era. The bracelet links have a few dings but this in no way detracts from its beauty and given that it is circa 1900's is not surprising.
She is a nice substantial weight and a good length and is in very good antique condition. A very beautiful wear every day bracelet.
